Decent hosting, slow email setup

I purchased the Shared Web Hosting and a domain from HostMetro. The setup for the website itself was quick and I got the WordPress installed easily enough. The price was competitive, especially with the intro offer and the price lock guarantee is a big plus. My only minor issue was with setting up the Email Hosting; it took a little longer to configure than I anticipated, and the interface felt a bit clunky compared to other providers I've used. Not a deal-breaker, but definitely an area for improvement. Delivery was immediate for the services, which was great.

Smooth transfer, good support

I decided to move my existing website to HostMetro from another provider. I used their Website Migration Service, and they handled most of it. The transfer credit was a nice perk. I also got an SSL Certificate and it was installed without any issues. I had a quick question about setting up an FTP account and their support team responded within a few hours with clear instructions. The site's been stable since the move. I went with the Super Max Hosting, and the performance has been consistent. Overall, it was a good experience and everything worked as expected.

Good value hosting plan

I was looking for an affordable shared hosting plan and HostMetro came up. The $2.95 hosting deal caught my eye, and the free domain registration was a nice bonus. I went with the annual billing to save a bit more. It feels like I got a good deal for the features offered, especially with that price lock guarantee for renewal rates. It was worth the purchase for sure.

Easy website setup

I needed hosting for a small project and picked HostMetro. Got the basic Shared Web Hosting. It was pretty straightforward to get everything set up. The 1-Click Script Installer worked perfectly for WordPress. No fuss, no drama, just got the job done. Feels like a solid choice.

So happy with Mega Max!

I just signed up for Mega Max Hosting and it was incredibly easy! The whole process was smooth and quick. My website is flying now, really noticed the speed difference. Will definitely be back for more services and telling all my friends about HostMetro!

Just got my HostMetro renewal notice for Super Max hosting and wow, the price jump is significant. Anyone else experience this? I remember something about a 'price lock guarantee' but it doesn't seem to apply to renewals.

S Sneha 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
I always pay for 3 years upfront to lock in the lower rate. It stings at first, but the annual savings are massive compared to renewing yearly. Check if they still have that multi-year discount.

Is there a specific discount code for the 3-year plan, or is it automatic?

R RaviK 1 month ago
That's a smart move. I only did 1 year this time. Next time I'll consider that.

I had the same with Mega Max. Ended up migrating my site to another provider because the renewal was just too much. It's a hassle but sometimes worth it for the savings.

How was the migration process? HostMetro offers a free migration service, but I'm wary of the downtime.
7
R RaviK 1 month ago
Good to know, might look into that if they don't budge on the price.

Mine was pretty smooth actually. No major downtime that I noticed. They handled most of it.

Yeah, their initial pricing is super aggressive, but renewals always catch you off guard. The price lock guarantee usually only applies to the term you initially sign up for, not indefinitely. It's a common tactic with hosting companies.

That's what I figured, but it still stings. Was hoping for some sort of renewal discount.

Did you try contacting support? Sometimes they offer something if you threaten to leave.

Thinking of moving my small business website to HostMetro. Currently on a shared plan with another provider and speeds are terrible. Has anyone used their Mega Max hosting for a small e-commerce site? Wondering if it's actually good for growing traffic.

A AnjaliM 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I started with Mega Max for a small online store, but quickly outgrew it after about 6 months when traffic picked up significantly. Had to upgrade to Super Max. If you're expecting growth, might be better to start with Super Max or be ready to upgrade.

Ah, okay. My current traffic is lower but hoping to grow. Might just start with Super Max then.

That's really helpful feedback. What kind of traffic increase made you upgrade?

A AnjaliM 2 weeks ago
Around 500-1000 unique visitors a day started causing slowdowns on Mega Max.

I've been on Mega Max for about a year with my photography portfolio site, which gets moderate traffic spikes. It's been pretty stable, definitely better than my previous host. WordPress runs fine. Not sure about heavy e-commerce though.

Thanks! Good to hear about WordPress. My site is on WP too.

Did you use their 1-Click Script Installer for WordPress or do it manually?

Don't forget to check their server locations. If your audience is mostly in India, you want a server close by for better speeds. Not sure where HostMetro's main data centers are.

M MeenaP 2 weeks ago
Good point! I need to check that. Haven't thought about server locations yet.

I think they are primarily US-based, but don't quote me on that.

So if I get the mega max plan, will the renewal price stay the same as what I pay initially? Or is it gonna jump up a lot after the first year?

G Gwen Y. 1 month ago
That's literally their main selling point, the Price Lock Guarantee. So yeah, it should stay the same. I've had mine for two years and it hasn't gone up.
4
D Dan Kaur 1 month ago
It's supposed to stay locked in! That's why I picked them over some others where the renewal rate is like 3x the intro price. Mine's been consistent so far.

Can I use like two coupon codes for the 2.95 deal and then an extra 10% off? trying to get the absolute cheapest first year.

O Omar 2 months ago
Nah, pretty sure it's one code per order. They usually just let you use one big promo, like the introductory rate.
5
O Omar P. 2 months ago
Yeah, you can only use one coupon. I tried to stack one of their email offers with the signup discount and it wouldn't let me. The price lock is a bigger deal anyway for long term savings.

hey is hostmetro actually good? like, compared to hostgator or bluehost, especially for a small blog.

C Cody A. 1 month ago
Yeah, I moved my little craft site there from Bluehost last year. It's been totally fine, maybe even a little snappier. And that price lock guarantee is real, which is nice.

i use them for my personal portfolio. they're decent, pretty standard shared hosting. not as many bells and whistles as siteground but way cheaper upfront.

I'm thinking about moving my WordPress site over from Namecheap. Is their migration service actually free and easy, or is it a huge headache?

C Cody F. 2 months ago
It was pretty painless for me. Just followed their steps, submitted a ticket, and they handled it. Took maybe a day or so.

J June 2 months ago
I didn't use their service, just did it myself with a plugin, but I've heard others say it's pretty straightforward if you ask them to do it. Definitely worth checking if it saves you a headache.

does the free domain registration apply to any plan, or do i have to get one of the more expensive ones for that?

S Sarah Kaur 1 month ago
I got a free domain when I signed up for the cheapest shared hosting plan, so I think it's for most if not all.

D David L. 1 month ago
Pretty sure it's included with the main hosting plans. Just make sure to grab it during checkout, I think it's for the first year.
